Over window sills see pills glaring from the counter,
Phone staying close to its rightful host- slave to the socket.
I just can’t change a damn thing.
Further away you wish I’d stay but I need to flounder,
Come and go like waves that’s why hearts cave- trapped in my locket.
And you just can’t change a damn thing.
Through daily apathy horrors grin greeting me like clockwork,
Crush the poor talk of war- another dollar in their pocket.
But we just can’t change a damn thing.
